The Washington Heights & Inwood Council on Aging (WHICOA) was founded in 1972 as a not-for-profit organization serving the community by advocating on behalf of the elderly and initiating, expanding and coordinating services for them. The mission of WHICOA is to encourage the expansion and ensure the coordination of services to the elderly in Washington Heights & Inwood. WHICOA is an interagency planning and advocacy organization for aging services providers and related organizations in northern Manhattan.

WHICOA possesses the tradition and commitment to develop program solutions which support the attainment of a true continuum of services for the elderly of Northern Manhattan. WHICOA has defined innovative community programs and will continue to improve the health and well-being of the seniors in the community by creating, developing and implementing innovative independent quality-of-life initiatives in Washington Heights and Inwood.
