About Us

The Washington Heights and Inwood Council on Aging (WHICOA) was founded in 1972 and incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in 1986. The mission of WHICOA is to encourage the expansion and ensure the coordination of services to the elderly in Washington Heights and Inwood.

WHICOA is composed of more than 30 local community-based organizations, service providers. and individual consumers.

WHICOA possesses the tradition and commitment to develop program solutions, which support the attainment of a continuum of services for the older adults of Northern Manhattan.

Mission

Washington Heights & Inwood Council on Aging (WHICOA) is here to provide guidance and support to organizations and individuals in the Washington Heights and Inwood area that provide or utilize programs and services for older adults and to advocate on behalf of older adults where legislative action is warranted.
